铁娘子金句 ‧ 梵婗解读

Iron Lady Margaret Thatcher 铁娘子戴卓尔夫人（或译柴契尔）仙游的消息，把我带到八十年代中英谈判香港回归的时候。戴卓尔夫人是我心目中的女中豪杰，愿她入土为安。在此分享她的几句金言，以及我的体会，共勉之！

1) “Being powerful is like being a lady. If you have to tell people you are, you aren’t.”

直译：当权与否，跟是否女人一样。若你要告知别人的话，你就并非如此。
梵婗：是否女人，别人有眼看的，不必重申。当权与否，人家自有计算，何用声明。

2) “Plan your work for today and every day, then work your plan.”

直译：把今天与及每天的工作计划好，然后付诸实行。
梵婗：光计划，不实行，枉然之。

3) “If you want something said, ask a man…if you want something done, ask a woman.”

直译：如果你有东西要演说，找个男的。如果你想要事情做好，找个女的。
梵婗：男人能词，女人能做。

4) “Look at a day when you are supremely satisfied at the end. It’s not a day when you lounge around doing nothing; it’s when you’ve had everything to do, and you’ve done it.”

直译：想想你最满意的一天，那不是你在躺着没事做的一天，而是你有很多事情要办，却全都做妥了的那一天。
梵婗：最快乐不是不用工作，而是能够把工作做好。

5) “The desire to win is born in most of us. The will to win is a matter of training. The manner of winning is a matter of honour.”

直译：对大多数人而言，对胜利的渴望是与生俱来的，必胜的信念是训练出来的，求胜的方式则是乎尊严和信用。
梵婗：若要成功，必须天生渴望优越，培养求胜的信念，建立品德信誉。

6) “You may have to fight a battle more than once to win it.”

直译：有些仗，你可能要打不止一次才能赢。
梵婗：毅力是胜利的关键。

7) “If you just set out to be liked, you would be prepared to compromise on anything at any time, and you would achieve nothing.”

直译：如果你只是想被人喜欢，你就要准备在任何时候，在任何问题上妥协，结果你将一事无成。
梵婗：要成功，就不能事事妥协，要作好准备被人敌视或攻击。

8 ) “It is not the creation of wealth that is wrong, but the love of money for its own sake.”

直译：创造财富不是错误，但纯粹的爱钱就是。
梵婗：富有者没错，贪钱者罪过。

9) “The cocks may crow, but it’s the hen that lays the egg.”

直译：公鸡会叫鸣，但生蛋的是母鸡。
梵婗：公鸡打鸣，母鸡下蛋。

10) “I wasn’t lucky. I deserved it.”

直译：我不是幸运，这是我应得的。
梵婗：成功非饶幸，得失非偶然。
