鐵娘子金句 ‧ 梵婗解讀

Iron Lady Margaret Thatcher 鐵娘子戴卓爾夫人（或譯柴契爾）仙遊的消息，把我帶到八十年代中英談判香港回歸的時候。戴卓爾夫人是我心目中的女中豪傑，願她入土為安。在此分享她的幾句金言，以及我的體會，共勉之！

1) “Being powerful is like being a lady. If you have to tell people you are, you aren’t.”

直譯：當權與否，跟是否女人一樣。若你要告知別人的話，你就並非如此。
梵婗：是否女人，別人有眼看的，不必重申。當權與否，人家自有計算，何用聲明。

2) “Plan your work for today and every day, then work your plan.”

直譯：把今天與及每天的工作計劃好，然後付諸實行。
梵婗：光計劃，不實行，枉然之。

3) “If you want something said, ask a man…if you want something done, ask a woman.”

直譯：如果你有東西要演說，找個男的。如果你想要事情做好，找個女的。
梵婗：男人能詞，女人能做。

4) “Look at a day when you are supremely satisfied at the end. It’s not a day when you lounge around doing nothing; it’s when you’ve had everything to do, and you’ve done it.”

直譯：想想你最滿意的一天，那不是你在躺著沒事做的一天，而是你有很多事情要辦，卻全都做妥了的那一天。
梵婗：最快樂不是不用工作，而是能夠把工作做好。

5) “The desire to win is born in most of us. The will to win is a matter of training. The manner of winning is a matter of honour.”

直譯：對大多數人而言，對勝利的渴望是與生俱來的，必勝的信念是訓練出來的，求勝的方式則是乎尊嚴和信用。
梵婗：若要成功，必須天生渴望優越，培養求勝的信念，建立品德信譽。

6) “You may have to fight a battle more than once to win it.”

直譯：有些仗，你可能要打不止一次才能贏。
梵婗：毅力是勝利的關鍵。

7) “If you just set out to be liked, you would be prepared to compromise on anything at any time, and you would achieve nothing.”

直譯：如果你只是想被人喜歡，你就要準備在任何時候，在任何問題上妥協，結果你將一事無成。
梵婗：要成功，就不能事事妥協，要作好準備被人敵視或攻擊。

8 ) “It is not the creation of wealth that is wrong, but the love of money for its own sake.”

直譯：創造財富不是錯誤，但純粹的愛錢就是。
梵婗：富有者沒錯，貪錢者罪過。

9) “The cocks may crow, but it’s the hen that lays the egg.”

直譯：公雞會叫鳴，但生蛋的是母雞。
梵婗：公雞打鳴，母雞下蛋。

10) “I wasn’t lucky. I deserved it.”

直譯：我不是幸運，這是我應得的。
梵婗：成功非饒幸，得失非偶然。
